“Come Fly With Me” Details. 2013. SOLD.
Felicia. Party Animal Series. 2013. As cheesy as they are, mirror camera phone pictures have become a part of our culture. Often times occurring when the photographer/model is especially “feeling themselves”. I wanted to take the cheesiness of a camera phone picture and make it more than that by painting these photos of friends. With each person I asked them to send me a photo of themselves in party attire and then asked them what animal best represents them. The Party Animal Series was born.

Teenage Pre-Mutant Ninja Turtle. 2013.
Painted this at the #WWShindigII over the weekend. It was a good time. Got to see a lot of familiar faces and made a few new friends. It’s what it’s all about.
Every year Kettle Art Gallery in Deep Ellum hosts “For the Love of Kettle” a show dedicated to 50+ artists from around the city donating a 9” x 12” piece of their work to be sold for $50 each. All of the money from the sales go to keeping Kettle open for another year. This is the piece I’m entering into this year’s show. Last year I did the Year of the Rooster self portrait that you may or may not remember so here’s the link. The piece I did last year was among the very first paintings to go. So if you’d like an original piece of my work at an affordable price, get to Kettle (2714 Elm Street) early THIS Saturday night at 7pm. The line will be LONG, and you will miss out on some REALLY great work from ALL the artists if you try to arrive “fashionably late”. RSVP here.

OGs Series. 2013. SOLD. Simply put, the United States government, in my opinion, is the “Original Gang” in America. I chose to use the images of US Presidents on paper money as a representation that “money is the root of all evil” and the irony that many of the “American heroes” we hold in such high regard are the faces shown on these “evil pieces of paper”. Wutang was right, cash does rule everything around us. Dolla dolla bill y’all.
